Deutschlandfunk Kultur is a culture-focused radio station and part of Deutschlandradio, a network of national radio stations in Germany. Their existing platform no longer met their needs, so they turned to Edenspiekermann to rethink its architecture, expand their audience, refresh their brand identity, and introduce new features such as a live player and archives.
We analyzed audience insights and identified two key challenges: managing large amounts of content and reaching both traditional listeners and new digital audiences. Our solution was a redesigned content model with diverse entry points. Working in two-week sprints, we collaborated with Deutschlandfunk Kultur’s product managers and journalists to redesign the customer journey and create responsive templates.
The redesign resulted in a modern, accessible platform that makes it easier for users to find and engage with content. The improved navigation and content structure increased user engagement, while the new live player and archives provided seamless access to past and real-time broadcasts. By balancing editorial needs with a user-centered approach, we helped Deutschlandfunk Kultur reach a broader audience and enhance the digital experience for its listeners.
